  • 💗 Give Thanks and Give Back 💗

    By: Arnica Lande

As we enter November, the lure of the holidays is ever present. With higher COVID vaccination rates, Americans are ready to gather once again to embrace loved ones and give thanks for the simple privilege of celebrating in person rather than over computers and phones. We’ve learned a lot while living through a pandemic, so there’s even more to be grateful for this year, particularly a newfound understanding of the importance of cherishing quality time together. While a lot of us are fortunate enough to have families and the resources to give thanks in style (hello stuffing, wine, and a cozy bed to pass out in after the festivities), there are many Americans who don’t have similar access and support. This month, consider giving back to your community, especially those who need it most. Denver has many different opportunities – with little to no time commitment – that will make someone else’s holiday season a little brighter. Here are just a few:

    • Sign up for the Gratitude Challenge at Fierce45! During the month of November, take 12 classes in 30 days, all for a great cause. It’s $10 to sign up and 100% of proceeds are donated to Urban Peak, a nonprofit organization that helps homeless youths, whether you complete the challenge or not. If you do take all 12 classes, Fierce45 will double the contribution to $20, so either way it’s a win! If you plan on taking classes this month, this is a simple way to give to an organization while doing something you planned to, anyway. Sign up in-studio by scanning the QR code on the Gratitude Challenge flyer, or check out our website: https://www.fierce45.com/gratitude-challenge.

    • Take a Fierce45 Donation class on Thanksgiving morning. Each studio will be running classes, free to sign up with a suggested donation of any amount. Again, all proceeds benefit Urban Peak. Follow along on our Fierce45 Instagram for information on how to donate, even if you can’t attend on Thanksgiving Day!

    • Donate a Turkey through Denver Rescue Mission and their Operation Turkey Drive. They have volunteer opportunities if you prefer helping in-person, or you can contribute a dollar amount if you’re short of time. A super simple and quick but effective way to give back on the holiday!

    • Not interested in eating Turkey on Thanksgiving? Then donate $35 to save one from Farm Sanctuary. There, you can symbolically ‘adopt’ a Turkey and know that your aid goes to helping provide for rescued Turkeys. They even have a quiz you can take to see which rescued farm turkey is most like you, because hey, turkeys have feelings too!

    • Check out Food Bank of the Rockies. With a simple donation of $1, you can help provide meals for 4 families.

    • Share the love with those who you love! At Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, or really any event this upcoming holiday season, choose an organization that everyone attending can donate to. You can even collect donations to simplify and give to an organization in one chunk. This can be a great way for everyone to give back that’s simple and only requires one person in charge to lead the effort.

Most of us are incredibly lucky that we don’t have to think about the cost of an overindulgent meal, or that we can safely gather with our loved ones near and far to celebrate. For a lot of people, that isn’t the case. The pandemic has provided a new and deeper meaning to the word “gratitude”, forcing us to slow down and cherish the quality time we spend with family and friends.  There is even more to be thankful for this season, so whether it be through your workout classes you already have scheduled, a weekend volunteer opportunity, or simply a minute of your day donating a small amount to a good cause, consider giving back to others in the community this season so they can experience the joy of what many see as a small comfort.

  • This month we are celebrating a dedicated Wash Park member, Leigh. our coaches truly look forward to seeing her smiling face on the machine each week and we are so lucky to have her part of this fierce community!

    1. How long have you been coming to Fierce45?

      I joined Fierce45 in August 2020.

    2. Favorite move on the machine?

My fav move on the machine is the Flying Tabletop and any moves in the arms series.

    3. How has Fierce made a positive impact on your life?

Fierce helps me start my day off feeling strong and grounded.

    4. Why do you choose Fierce over another workout?

I choose Fierce45 because it kicks my ass every time!

    5. Tell us a fun fact about you!

A fun fact about me is I am the co-founder of the local lifestyle brand, be hippy. Be Hippy is all about living the life you love and spreading positive vibes…I feel Fierce45 is very aligned with that state of mind as well!

  • This month we are highlighting one of our OG members. She has taken over 500 classes and never ceases to amaze us with the strength she brings to each class she attends. She truly embodies all things Fierce and we are thrilled to highlight her this month.

    1. How long have you been coming to Fierce45?

      Almost 6 years

    2. Favorite move on the machine?

Double trouble bungee or anything core off the back. Hard. Every. Time.

    3. How has Fierce made a positive impact on your life?

There’s a meme at RiNO, that sums it up: “I don’t feel my ____ when I’m at Fierce.” For me that is STRESS.  I have to pay attention to myself for 45 minutes, pushing, balancing, breathing. For 45 short minutes, that act of paying attention is the most generous thing we can give ourselves.  I don’t stress for 45 minutes and it is amazing. I also need to be a part of a community, in all that I do. Whether being pregnant or living through a pandemic, I always find a connection with the Fierce Fam, with a coach, or with a classmate, and I feel supported and stronger, and more accepting of being me.

    4. Why do you choose Fierce over another workout?

This workout is the single best workout to prepare for living an active life in Colorado.  It is physically hard, mentally challenging, and different every time. Just like climbing a mountain. It is also 45 minutes and basically available 24/7, which is critical in my world.

    5. Tell us a fun fact about you!

I saved my own life 8 years ago.  Go get a mammogram, ladies!

  • 🙌🏼 A Summer To Celebrate 🙌🏿

    By: Arnica Lande

Pride month is coming to a close, Juneteenth was just declared a federal holiday, and the 4th of July – America’s favorite celebration – is on the horizon. All of these honor one main idea: freedom of a people. And while we may designate a specific time period during the year for these celebrations to take place, this summer should be a celebration for everyone. 2020 may be forever known as the summer of lockdown, but 2021 has already been coined the summer of “vaxed and waxed,” or the summer of travel and socialization. People are ready to visit family members, escape their cities, and party like it’s pre-pandemic. So, while in class on the FierceFormer or lounging on your vacay, celebrate your freedom all summer long by recognizing the challenges you’ve overcome this past year and the strength you have gained along the way.

With entire cities opening up again, there’s a collective sense of freedom that many have missed while in lockdown, so the summer celebrations are guaranteed to be even bigger. Find ways to celebrate yourself each day though, and you’ll be sure to get the most out of the upcoming season:

    • While in class at Fierce. The FierceFormer is an incredible tool to use to understand and celebrate your gains, both physically and mentally. A lot of times, we feel the pain in the moment, and it takes another level of self-awareness to recognize that what we’re doing now, we may not have been able to do a year ago. Whether it be holding a Carriage High Plank, or being in a physical studio to work out around other humans, we’ve come far as a community this past year and learned that even having the freedom to work out should not be taken for granted.

    • Sign up for the “Free To Be Fierce Challenge”, starting July 1st. Take 35 classes in 9 weeks to hold yourself accountable between exciting summer travels and fun parties. It’s a perfect way to stay consistent with your growth from the past year while also celebrating your accomplishments!

    • Always celebrate the little wins. When you congratulate yourself for trying something new, for the big goals achieved, and for overcoming the hurdles, life will be more enjoyable. You made your morning workouts all week long? You increased your water intake for summer? You made it from a variation back into full range for the first time ever without stopping? CELEBRATE ALL OF IT! Life is made for celebrations, and often times we are far too hard on ourselves and don’t take the necessary time to give gratitude and take ownership over our own growth. Through celebrating your wins, you’ll find freedom to grow in all areas of life.

Whether it be within the walls of Fierce or on your first plane ride since 2019, find moments each day to celebrate “you”. Acknowledge the strength gained from the challenges of the past year, the continued grows in your life, and be grateful for the freedom that Summer 2021 has to offer.

Sprinter – low and slow. burn baby burn!

    4. What is your favorite thing about the Fierce45 community?

It is truly a commUNITY. Every time I teach – and take – I feel the love, the support, and the desire to be great while supporting the person on the next machine to be just as great. No ego. No expectation. Just a great (inspired) shake.

    5. Why do you love teaching at Fierce45?

The community that I have been able to build and foster over the years is truly magnificent. It is what drives me to show up as my best self so that I can help other Fiercers be their best selves.

    6. Tell us a fun fact about you!

I don’t have feeling – on the skin level – on a portion of my left shin…thank you knee surgery 🙂 is that fun? or is that just unfortunate? lol

    7. Besides Fierce45, what are 3 of your favorite things?

Road cycling, being outside in the sunshine (give me that vitamin D!), and spending time with family and close friends

      3 years!

    2. Three words to describe your classes.

      Hurts. So. GOOD

    3. Favorite move on the machine?

It’s so hard to pick just one, but if I had to, it would have to be bungee!

    4. What is your favorite thing about the Fierce45 community?

I absolutely love how Fierce is a no-judgment zone. You can go in, meet some amazing people, and know you’re in a safe space where everyone supports everyone!

    5. Why do you love teaching at Fierce45?

What’s not to love?! It’s seriously so rewarding to see clients meet and exceed their goals. I love that I get to be a part of so many people’s fitness journeys and be a bright light for 45 minutes of their day. Getting to safely challenge clients is my absolute favorite!

I’m a Certified Laser Specialist, so when I’m not coaching, I’m lasering off people’s unwanted tattoos!

      1. My sweet daughter and son – Easton, 4 and Atlas, 1.

      2. Having my own little homestead! 3 dogs, 5 chickens, 2 ducks, and a honeybee hive!

      3. Traveling (particularly to the beach, but I’ll take what I can get!) with my friends and family!

  • ⭐ June FierceFam Spotlight: Fabi Kahn ⭐

THIS MONTH WE ARE HIGHLIGHTING ONE OF OUR BADASS CLIENTS. HER ENERGY, PRESENCE, AND DEDICATION CONTRIBUTE TO OUR FIERCE45® COMMUNITY AND WE ARE SO THANKFUL TO HAVE HER PART OF OUR FIERCE FAMILY.

    MEET FABI KAHN!

    1. How long have you been coming to Fierce45?

Three years. I still remember my first class!

    2. Favorite move on the machine?

Actual favorite is inner thighs. I never knew I could work my inner thighs like that. Favorite because I hate it but it really works is twisted kneeling crunch off the back.

    3. How has Fierce made a positive impact on your life?

Fierce has taught me to embrace the resistance. Shaking and showing your struggle is actually a sign of strength building and change happening. I now try to bring that mindset to other aspects of my life. I actually did Fierce the day I went into labor! Thanks to Joy for that last class that kicked off contractions 😂.

    4. Why do you choose Fierce over another workout?

So many reasons! The workout never gets stale, nor does it ever get easier…it really is hard every time. I love the way coaches have us write our names when we arrive and refer to us by name. I’ve been a studio junkie for many years and it was the first time in my life someone had given me kudos or modifications by name. It’s a small thing, but it has a big impact. I also love that the coaches clearly love this workout as much as the people in class do – they take class with you, they have fun making playlists, they take care to make sure people are doing moves properly, they throw in little tidbits about themselves.

    5. Tell us a fun fact about you!

      I’m fluent in Italian!

  • By: Arnica Lande

After a long year spent mostly indoors and away from the activities we love, people are now out and about with a new vengeance for life. Patios are bustling as Colorado lifts capacity and mask restrictions, parks are full of children laughing and adults playing drink-friendly kickball, classes are waitlisted at Fierce45, and an overall intense yet happy energy is circulating. With summer and sunshine on the horizon, many are looking to feel their best selves, so it’s a perfect time to take workouts to the next level!

Whether it be hiking, biking, running, swimming, rock climbing, or any other activity that gives you your Rocky Mountain High, Fierce is the perfect complimentary workout. The method works by building stability and endurance strength through slow twitch muscle burnout, which then creates healthy, strong joints and overall stability around the bones to ensure functional movement. Simply said? Fierce makes strong, healthy bodies that can safely and efficiently do the badass activities Colorado has to offer! And if you feel ready for the challenge, or like you’ve hit a plateau after crushing your workouts all year long (because let’s face it – for many, that was the most outside of our homes activity we could do), it’s time to push yourself a little more on the machine and realize your capacity for change and continued growth.

It’s easy to become complacent with a workout – maybe a plateau where you don’t feel a lot of change happening in your body, things level out and you’re itching for something new. At the end of the day, it’s on us to create our own change, to know what we’re capable of and experience the beauty of what self-motivation can do firsthand! Maybe you add another day of Fierce class to your schedule to supplement your outdoor lifestyle, or maybe you start scheduling your weekly hikes to experience the benefits of your Fierce workouts this past year. Whatever it is, know that each time you show up on the machine, there are some easy and amazing ways to up level your workout and ensure you live your best life outside of the Fierce45 walls!

    • Increase your range of motion. By doing so, your muscles work even harder to stabilize and support your alignment. Just remember – if your form is compromised (ex. You lunge too low to a 90-degree angle at the knee or dip in the low back during a plank) or you experience painful discomfort; reset alignment, connect to your muscles through engagement, and begin to layer in movement.

    • Change your placement on the machine. The tiniest shift of placement can make all the difference! When working in a kneeling upper body move on the carriage with the black cables, moving away from the black cable connection point will increase tension. In a Platform Lunge, placing the secondary toe closer to seam line 2 will limit the range of motion from the bottom (so rising a little less) to increase tension and up level the movement.

    • Change your spring load. Easiest rule of thumb to follow: When working off the front of the machine, decreasing spring load will increase the tension for center core, obliques, and light load legs (ex. 0 springs instead of 1 white). Increasing the spring load while working off the back in these same blocks will make the movements more challenging (ex. 2 white springs instead of 1 white).

There are tons of other ways to amplify the exercises on the machine, so be sure to listen to your coach throughout class and don’t be afraid to chat with them before or after and ask the best ways to make something more challenging! The FierceFormer is a magical machine, and truly will give you your best and most challenging yet efficient workout each time you show up, allowing you to level up the rest of your life outside of the studio.
